Used to + hele ww (infinitive)

When:  als je twee situaties met elkaar vergelijkt die nu compleet anders zijn.

How:

! : I used to hate English, but now I don't anymore.

X: Didn't you use to hate English?

?: Did you use to hate English? I used to love it.

(let op: Gebruik did of didn't)

Examples

I used to have long hair (but now I have short hair).

He used to smoke (but now he doesn't smoke).

They used to live in India (but now they live in Germany).

He used to play football for the local team, but he’s too old now.

We used to go to the seaside every summer when I was a kid.

Would + hele ww (infinitive)

When:  zou,  of bij een nette vraag

How:

! : I would like to pass my exams

X: I would never go there on my own.

?: Would you mind moving over? I would like to sit there.
