The First Conditional

• Als iets waarschijnlijk gaat gebeuren, nu of in de toekomst
• will + werkwoord ... if + present simple

• If he gets the day off, we will go to London
• We will be sad if Daniel leaves

Hoe maak je een first conditional?

Een conditional bestaat uit twee delen:

1. de if-sentence

2. de hoofdzin

Hoe vorm je deze twee delen:

1. de if-sentence staat in de Present Simple.

2. in de hoofdzin wordt Present Simple gebruikt.

The Second Conditional

• Als het niet waarschijnlijk is dat iets gaat gebeuren, nu of in de toekomst
• if + past simple, would + werkwoord

• If we got the day off, we would go to London.
• We would all be sad if Daniel left

LET OP: In deze conditonal gebruik je bij 'be' altijd WERE

Second Conditional

Een second conditional?

Een second conditional is een voorwaarde die waarschijnlijk niet zal gebeuren in de toekomst. 

Deze voorwaarde wordt gevormd door een if-sentence.

Oftewel: als aan deze voorwaarde wordt voldaan, dan zal dit waarschijnlijk toch niet gaan gebeuren. Een voorbeeld:

If pigs could fly, I would commit myself to an insane asylum.

Hoe maak je een second conditional?

Een conditional bestaat uit twee delen:

1. de if-sentence

2. de hoofdzin

Hoe vorm je deze twee delen:

1. de if-sentence staat in de Past Simple.

2. in de hoofdzin wordt would + hele ww gebruikt.
