- At the end of this class, you will know where you are with learning the vocabulary/grammar from Unit 3. 

 At the end of this class, you will know what to expect on the listening/watching exam. 

Could you give one example of a strategy that you can use when making a listening test in English?

listening strategies 

• pay attention to linking words
  
• always start with reading the questions so that you know what to focus on. 
• Do the questions ask you to look for specific details or is it more a general idea of the video?
  
• to get an idea of the central message: the first sentences often give away the content of a video/message, Important facts are often preceded by pauses and are often repeated throughout the fragment.

•   Intonation, voice, words/expressions, and pauses are important. 
• Is there overlap you think between reading and listening strategies?

• you have to know, recognize, and be able to guess the meaning of words/expressions. 

listening/watching 

- kijk/luistervaardigheid toets: Friday June 4th during class

- we will practice twice with a test, today and on Friday, May 28th during class. 

- In between, we will practice step by step with a transcript to see what the answers should be and why. 

-  60% correct = 5,5 during our practice test sessions, the real test on Friday June 4th will have a more flexible standard.
