could: kon, zou kunnen - bij verleden tijd kunnen of een beleefd verzoek

Could you lend me some cash?

I couldn't see anything, it was dark. 

would: zou willen - vragen wat iemand graag wil, zeggen wat je zou doen

Would you live on an island if you could? I wouldn't pet that dog, it looks angry. 

should: zou moeten - bij een advies

I shouldn't eat so much chocolate, it's bad for me.

korte woorden: 

big - bigger - the biggest / pretty - prettier - the prettiest

lange woorden: 

popular - more popular - the most popular

uitzonderingen: 

good - better - the best / bad - worse - the worst

net zo ... als: 

as ... as - It's as cold as yesterday.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)

Bijwoorden zeggen iets over HOE het gebeurt en krijgen meestal -ly. 

She was walking very quickly. He draws beautifully. 

Uitzonderingen: good -> well, fast, long + hard blijven hetzelfde

You speak English well. We run fast. He works hard. 

Na een vorm van 'to be' (is, am, are, was, were, have/has been etc) geen -ly:

She is nice. That was good. Spring break has been amazing.

De woordvolgorde in het Engels is altijd hetzelfde:
