Snow in the Sahara

• Snow falls every ±20 years in the Sahara desert 
  
• Average temperature in January is ±12º C
• But this does not tell you about extreme situations!

Maximum and minimum temperatures

• Desert climates: big difference between day temperature and night temperature
• All data from 30 years combined lead to a 30-year average
• For today:

Minimum temperature: 4ºC

Maximum temperature: 23ºC

Average temperature: 13,5ºC

Rotation of the earth: day and night

• Earth rotates around its axis in 24 hours
• Day and night 

Climates at a low latitude:

• No difference between summer, fall, winter and spring
  
• Temperature about the same all year round 

Climates at a high latitude:

•  Difference in temperature between summer, fall, winter and spring
