Reported speech

Omdat indirecte rede gaat over iets wat al éérder gezegd is, gebruik je de verleden tijd:

-Een zin in de present simple wordt past simple

-Een zin in de present continuous wordt past continuous

-Een zin in de past simple wordt past perfect

-Een zin in de present perfect wordt past perfect

- Will wordt would

Examples

directe rede: Patrick explained, 'I am living the dream'.

indirecte rede: Patrick explained (that) he was living the dream.

directe rede: Michael said, 'We haven't been playing tennis since last month'.

indirecte rede: Michael said (that) they hadn't been playing tennis since last month.

Reported speech of this sentence.
Tom "I slept in this morning"

1. Tom said that he slept in that morning
2. Tom said that he had slept in that morning
3. Tom said that he wanted to sleep in this morning
4. Tom said that I had slept in that morning

Rewrite to reported speech:
"Have you ever met anyone famous?"

1. He asked have you ever met anyone famous.
2. He asked me weather I had ever met anyone famous
3. He asked me whether I had ever met anyone famous.
4. He asked me whether I did ever meet anyone famous

Turn into reported speech:
Julie: "I want to go out."

1. Julie said that I want to go out
2. Julie said that she want to go out.
3. Julie said that she wanted to go out.
4. Julie said that she had wanted to go out.

Future: Will & Going to

Will = Besluiten, Beslissingen, Voorspellingen zonder bewijs
- (will + hele werkwoord)
- "I will walk"   &   "He will walk"

Going to = toekomstige afsrpaken, voorspellingen met bewijs
- (am / is / are + going to + werkwoord)
- "I am going to walk"   &   "He is going to walk"
