Je gebruikt "the" als je naar iets specifieks verwijst:

Voor bepaalde gebouwen:

+ the: je bent slechts op bezoek

- zonder "the": je werkt daar of je hebt daar een bepaalde functie

I am in prison. ( gevangene)

An gebruik je wanneer het woord in de uitspraak begint met een klinker:
