Today you will learn: 

• Het verschil tussen ‘countable’ en ‘uncountable’ nouns. 
  
• Hoe je verschillende etenswaren in de categorieën ‘countable’ of ‘uncountable’ nouns kan zetten.  
• Wanneer je ’some’ moet gebruiken en wanneer je ‘any’ moet gebruiken in een zin.  
• Wanneer je ‘much’, ‘many’ en ‘ a lot of’ moet gebruiken in een zin.

Countable & uncountable 

• Countable nouns (telbare znw)  zijn zelfstandige naamwoorden waar je mee kunt tellen. 

• Nigel bought seven apples at the supermarket. 
  

• Maud took 22 selfies before finding the perfect one for het instagram. 
  

• Bo ate twelve eggs for breakfast. 
  

Countable & uncountable

• Uncountable nouns (ontelbare znw) zijn zelfstandig naamwoorden waar je niet mee kunt tellen 
  

• Daniel has got a lot of money.
  

• Janneke drinks a lot of water after playing volleyball. 
  

• Floor likes to eat bread in the morning. 
  

Countable and uncountable 

• Countable nouns  are: 
• Zelfstandige naamwoorden die je kunt tellen.

• Examples: 
  
• one dog - two dogs (honden)
  
• one baby - two babies
  
• one bottle - ten bottles (flessen)
  

• Uncountable nouns are: 
• Zelfstandige naamwoorden die je niet kunt tellen.
  
• Sugar (suiker)
  
• water 
  
• Tea
  
• Air

Some vs Any

Grammar

• She has some money in her wallet.  
  
• I don’t have any time! I am late. 
  
• I bought you some flowers for your birthday.
  
• Is there any candy left? 

• What would ‘some’ and ‘any’ mean? 
  

SOME & ANY

• Betekenis: een paar, een aantal, wat, enkele

• Some en any gebruik je om iets aan te geven, maar minder specifiek dan het noemen van een hoeveelheid.
  
• Examples als je een specifieke hoeveelheid noemt: 
  
• They need to eat two sandwiches and three bananas.

• Maar je kunt ook some of any gebruiken (minder specifiek):
• They need to eat some sandwiches and bananas.

ANY • when to use it?

• 1. In ontkennende / negatieve zinnen
  
• We didn't buy any flowers.
  
• I don’t have any money left.

• 2. In vraagzinnen - waarvan het antwoord nog niet zeker is

• Do we have any milk left? 
  
• Does she have any tattoos? 

Bij vraagzinnen: hoe maak je duidelijk aan de leerlingen om welke zinnen het gaat. Aangezien vraagzinnen ook some kunnen bevatten.

• In bevestigende / positieve zinnen (+)
  
• Hanne bought some flowers.
  
• Lenny has some pens in is backpack.
• They have some nice animals at the zoo.
• I collected some shells from the beach.

• What could these words mean? 

A lot (of) / much / many

• Much, many & a lot of betekenen allemaal veel in het Nederlands.

• Je gebruikt ze alleen niet allemaal hetzelfde. Kijk naar de volgende voorbeelden en probeer het verschil tussen much & many te raden!

• Je gebruikt many als het woord dat erna komt meervoud en telbaar is.

• He hasn't got many friends.

• Tip: Je kunt meervoud herkennen aan de letter -s achter een woord.

• Je gebruikt much als het woord dat erna komt enkelvoud en ontelbaar is.

• A lot (of) kan je gebruiken bij telbare en ontelbare woorden!
  

• A lot of children like toys.
