What are a/an/the?

The = specific people or things (The president of the USA).

A = non-specific things before a word that starts with a consonant sound (a banana).

An = before a word that starts with a vowel sound (an apple).

An imperative is a command, advice or instruction.

We use a verb without a subject (Close the door, Be quiet, Don't touch that).

Positive & negative imperatives

Positive is when someone should do something (Take the next street, watch your step) .

Use 'don't' when someone shouldn't do something (Don't be late!, Don't cross the street here).
