I am small.              I am smaller than you.            I am the smallest.

I am big.                   I am bigger than you.              I am the biggest. 

Comparisons

1 lettergreep: -er than / the -est

I am busy. I am busier than you. I am the busiest. 

3 lettergrepen: more ... than / the most ...  

I am beautiful. I am more beautiful than you. I am the most beautiful. 

Comparisons

! 2 lettergrepen: 

Eindigt het woord op -le, -er, -ow, -y? -> -er than / the -est

simple -> simpler than, the simplest

clever -> cleverer than, the cleverest

shallow -> shallower than, the shallowest

happy -> happier than, the happiest

De overige woorden met 2 lettergrepen: more ... than / the most ...

Uitzonderingen:

I am bad. I am worse than you. I am the worst. 

When do you use 'much'? When do you use 'many'? 

much / many

Much = veel + enkelvoud (niet telbaar)

   He didn't have much homework.

   I don't have much money with me.

Many = veel + meervoud (telbaar)

   She didn't visit many museums during the holiday.
