Past Continuous

When something was going on for a period of time in the past.

We were playing football yesterday

The past continous 

Je gebruikt de 'past continuous' als je wilt zeggen dat iets aan de gang was in de verleden tijd (vandaar 'continuous')

1.  Mr Uitslag was cycling on the 'John Frost Bridge' when snow started to fall.
