Past simple

Past simple 

De past simple is de verleden tijd. Er staat vaak een verleden tijdsbepaling in de zin (yesterday, last year, 2010, this morning)

Je maakt de verleden tijd door -ed achter regelmatige ww te zetten. (I worked- She lived- They danced)

En bij onregelmatige ww neem je de tweede vorm van het stencil (I did- she wrote- they forgot)

Present Perfect

Je maakt de present perfect met have of has (has bij he,she, it en have bij I, you, we, they)

Bij regelmatige werkwoorden zet je -ed achter het werkwoord

I have watched an amazing documentary.

She has lived in London since 2002.

Lucy had tidied her bedroom so it's not a mess anymore

Bij onregelmatige werkwoorden is het de 3e vorm van je stencil.

I have seen him for many years now.

He has sung this song since this morning.

Bij de woorden : for, since, ever, never, just, yet in een zin kies je altijd de present perfect!

Ook als je het hebt over ervaringen

En als iets in het verleden is gebeurd waar je nu het resultaat van merkt.

Past Continuous

Je maakt de past continuous met was/were

I was, you were, he,she,it was, we were, you were, they were + het hele werkwoord wat op -ing eindigt.

We were talking

I was reading

Je gebruikt deze tijd om te zeggen dat je iets aan het doen was/waren

Past simple/past continuous

Deze twee tijden heb je ook samen in één zin.

De past continuous is de lange actie en de past simple is de korte actie.

Bijvoorbeeld:

I was doing the dishes (lange actie) when somebody knocked on my door (korte actie)
