Past simple - negatives

Als we willen aangeven dat iets NIET gebeurde in het verleden, dan gebruiken we DID NOT / DIDN'T + het hele werkwoord

I did not / didn't go hiking last summer

They did not / didn't travel to France in May.

We were very lucky! It did not / didn't rain during our holiday.

He didn't go on vacation this year.

Past simple - negatives - To be (zijn)

Het werkwoord to be (zijn) is een uitzondering op de regel van de vorige slide.

Men gebruikt bij ontkenningen in de verleden tijd met "to be" 

WAS/ WERE NOT 

Our stay wasn't very exciting because mum got sick.

They weren't at the beach this morning. 

Past simple negatives - practise time

Make the following sentences negative:

1. Vanessa went to a Katy Perry concert.
2. Jenny was at the same concert. 
3. Jack travelled by car to the airport.
4. The plane departed at noon.
5. It landed in Madrid two hours later.
6. The children were excited about the trip.

Past simple negatives - practise time

Make the following sentences negative:

1. Vanessa did not / didn't go to a Katy Perry concert.
2. Jenny was not/ wasn't at the same concert. 
3. Jack did not / didn't travel by car to the airport.
4. The plane did not / didn't depart at noon.
5. It did not / didn't land in Madrid two hours later.
6. The children were not / weren't excited about the trip.
