Grammar: Past Simple

• Wat is het?
• Het is de verleden tijd. Je gebruikt de past simple als iets in het verleden begonnen is EN geëindigd. Er staat meestal een signaalwoord in, een tijdsbepaling: last week, when, a minute ago etcetera
• Hoe ziet ie eruit?
• ww + ed of 2e rijtje van de onregelmatige werkwoorden (worden bekend verondersteld)
• Je maakt de past simple VRAGEND en ONTKENNEND met DID/DIDN'T, gevolgd door het hele werkwoord

Past Simple vragend/ontkennend

Vragend:

- Did you know the answer to that question?

- Did John watch watch The Umbrella Academy yesterday?

Use the past simple:
(walk) They both _____ the dog.

Past simple (regular verbs)
I ....... the bathroom. (clean)

Use the past simple:
(arrange) He _____ everything.

Maak de zin ontkennend(Past Simple)
Shirley (not - to feed) her horse yesterday.

Present perfect

• Gebruik je als iets in het verleden begonnen is en nog niet is geëindigd (I have talked for about 10 minutes now)
• Gebruik je als de nadruk ligt op het resultaat van NU (Watch it: I have just painted that door)
• Vorm: has/have + voltooid deelwoord (ww + ed of 3e rijtje onregelmatige werkwoorden
• Signaalwoorden: for, yet, never, ever, yet, always, since 
• (FYNE JAS)

Present perfect 

• Nog niet afgelopen, resultaat van belang
• has/have + voltooid deelwoord
• staat meestal geen tijdsbepaling in

Past simple

• Afgelopen
• ww + ed/2e rijtje
• staat een tijdsbepaling in de zin
