We use quantifiers to give information on the amount of something.

Used when there is a small amount of something. There is some, but not much

Example: I bought a few shirts

Used when there is nearly nothing of something 

Example: there are few people in the meeting room

Example: she didn´t eat anuthing but she drank a little water
