In het Nederlands: lidwoorden.

Wanneer je in het Nederlands een voor een znw zet, gebruik je in het Engels a of an. 

Article=Lidwoord 

a/an

a gebruik je voor woorden die beginnen met een medeklinker klank:

a pet               a teacher           a bycicle

a car                  a door               a room

an gebruik je voor woorden die beginnen met een klinker klank (a/e/i/o/u):

an ear            an investigation         an x-ray

an advertisement            an American          an answer

 

Let op!

De keuze voor a of an hangt niet af van de (mede)klinker op papier, maar of je hemt hoort.

Soms schrijf je een -h maar hoor je hem niet -> dan gebruik je an.

Soms schrijf je een -u, maar hoor je een -j of - h -> dan gebruik je a.

Rules:

1. Form of 'to be': am / are / is

2. verb (werkwoord)

3. + -ing

I am doing the dishes right now.

My parents are watching TV.

Short form: I'm doing / She's listening / We're watching

Wanneer gebruik je deze tijd?

*1 minute for each Speaking Ass.

Your Statement:

You are shopping and you see someone running away: a shoplifter. The police need your statement (=getuigenis). 

Are you a good witness (=getuige)? 

 

One of you is police officer. The other is the shopper . The police officer interviews the shopper about the thief.  

 

Person 1 Police officer:  

The police officer starts the interview by saying: ‘So tell me, you are in the shop and you see…?’  

What should you do? 

The police officer starts the interview by saying:  

‘So tell me, you are in the shop and you see…?’  

You answer some questions:  

What does the thief look like? 

What is the thief wearing? describe the outfit of the thief. 

give as many details as possible.  

Where does the thief run away to? 

What does the thief take? 

Did someone get hurt?
