When to usecardinal numbers
Hoofdtelwoorden geven een aantal aan. Waar je bij hoofdtelwoorden goed op moet letten is het streepje dat gebruikt wordt bij de getallen 21 t/m 99, dus bijvoorbeeld twenty-one.
Let er ook op dat je na one hundred, of one thousand geen streepje gebruikt, maar een spatie. Bijvoorbeeld one hundred seventy-four.

Celebrations: birthdays and anniversaries (It's her 17th birthday today.)
Centuries (He lived in the 15th century.)
Kings and Queens: Roman ordinals, but spoken in English (Richard IV = Richard the fourth)

Making ordinals up to 20: normally add -th after the cardinal number: eleventh, nineteenth (except 1, 2 and 3, 9, 12). Add -st, -nd ,-rd ,-th
