• De toekomst maak je op twee manieren:

Will

• voorspellingen, beloftes of aannames
  
• Je weet niet zeker 
  
• 
  
• We will stop having Corona this summer (voorspelling)
  
• I will come to your party, I promise (belofte)
  
• He will start work when he finishes school (aanname)
  
• Je kunt ook zeggen We’ll / I’ll /He’ll
  

To be going to 

• als je eerder al besloten hebt iets te gaan doen
  
• bij dingen waarvan je zeker weet dat ze in de toekomst gaan gebeuren
  
• 
  
• They are going to eat pasta tonight (gepland)
  
• We are all going to die one day (onvermijdelijk)
  
• Je kunt ook zeggen They’re … / We’re …
  

Ontkenningen met to be going to.

• Je maakt zinnen met to be going to ontkennend door het woordje not toe te voegen.

• We are not going to celebrate.

• Verkorten: 2 manieren
  
• She’s not going to be here. / She isn’t going to be here.

• not komt achter will (uitspraak met nadruk op not)

The present simple in the future 

• Heel soms gebruik je de present simple om de toekomst aan te geven
  
• Dat is meestal bij tijden die in een vast schema staan

• He has an appointment at 2pm
  
• School starts at 9am
