Vergelijkingen

Je voegt  -er of -est toe aan een bijvoegelijk naamwoord (adjective) om dingen te vergelijken

A baseball is small.  = >  A tennis ball is smaller. = > A golf ball is the smallest. 

 My dog is 7. My dog is old. => My cat is 12. My cat is older.  =>  My fish is 20. My fish is the oldest.

My pizza is cold. => His pizza is in the fridgde. It is colder. => Her pizza is frozen. It is the coldest.

Spelling

Soms verandert de spelling.

 De medeklinker aan het eind verdubbeld als er een klinker voor staat.

The sun is the biggest.

Als er al een E staat:

Dan voeg je toe:

Y aan het eind:

Woorden met 2 of meer lettergrepen:

Daar voeg je more of most aan toe:

My dog is perfect. => His dog is more perfect. => Her dog is the most perfect.

Jack’s medal is beautiful. => Peter’s medal is more beautiful. =>Rosie’s medal is the most beautiful.

Rugby is interesting. => Baseball is more interesting.=> Hurling is the most interesting.

LET OP!

Als een woord eindigt op een Y:

Dan voeg je -ier of -iest toe

 (in plaats van de Y) ookal zijn er meer dan twee lettergrepen! 

naughty - naughtier - naughtiest

Leer uit je hoofd:

Sommige woorden zijn onregelmatig en moet je uit je hoofd leren:

good/ well - better - best

bad/ ill- worse - worst

little - less - least

many/much - more - most
