The passive (1)

Betekent: lijdende vorm.

Je gebruikt het als het niet belangrijk is wie de activiteit heeft verricht.

Je kijkt meer naar wat er gebeurd en niet naar wie het doet.

The passive (2)

to be + voltooid deelwoord (soms een zinsdeel met by erachter).

Example

Anita en Jonas were driven to the theatre by Carla.

My car was stolen.

The passive (3)

De present simple passive: 

am/is/are + voltooid deelwoord.

Example

The bag is sold.

I am told to wash my hands.

The passive (4)

De past simple passive:

was/were + voltooid deelwoord.

Example:

This wallet was found.

They were invited to the wedding.
