What are we going to learn today?
Today we will learn:
What blood is.
What blood consists of and what all these parts do.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Blood
An average human has 5 liters of blood, that circulates your whole body in less than 30 seconds. It's function is to transport essential substances and waste product through your body.

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Blood
Blood is a mix of water and solid parts. 55% is solid, and 45% is blood plasma: water with important substances dissolved in it.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Red blood cells
Red blood cells are very tiny ''discs'' in your blood. Their main function is to transport oxygen and carbondioxide. Because of that, they have a protein called haemoglobin which has iron in it.

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

White blood cells
White bloods cells are also common in your blood, but they can also leave the circulatory system. That is because white blood cells are a very important part of your immune system: the system that looks for pathogens and destroys them.

Platelets
When you have an injury, blood flows out of your veins. This needs to be fixed as quickly as possible. Your platelets are responsible for this. When they make contact with air, they release fibers that clot together. Making a fiber that holds everything in your body.
