1.4 Internal causes of poverty

1. Natural:

-Natural resources (resource curse, conflict diamonds)

-Landlocked state (totally surrounded by land)

-Lack of fertile soils

2. Human:

-Lack of good governance (corruption, ideology)

-Population growth and age structure (‘youth bulge’ is ideal)

-Instability, conflicts, civil wars
