Economic: The resource curse
The resource curse: countries with many natural resources, such as gold, oil and gas often have many conflicts and are often politically unstable.

People (volk) – Group of people who feel connected to each other because of language, religion or because they have a common history. ​
Ethnicity (etniciteit) – The identity of a people, based on culture and background.​
State (staat) – Area with an internationally recognised border around it (country). In a state, laws and regulations apply.​

Youth bulge (jeugdbult) – A large proportion of 15 to 29-year olds in the population.​
