Negations (Ontkenningen)

At the end of this lesson you know what negations are and how to use them in the correct way.

Uitleg

Bij een ontkenning zeg je dat iets niet zo is.

– Je gebruikt in het Engels dan meestal het woordje not.

Ontkenningen: (to) be

Ontekking met am/is/are (to) be en can

 

alleen maar not achter te zetten, 

net zoals je in het Nederlands doet.

I am not going to the movies tonight.

I cannot come tonight.

Maak ontkennend:
I am awake

1. I amn't awake
2. I am not awake
3. I do not awake
4. I not awake

Maak ontekennend:
You can come along.

1. You can come not along
2. You not come along
3. You come not along
4. You cannot come along

Alle andere: don't / doesn't

        Persoon + do/does not + hele ww

                       I        do not                  work.

She / He / It        does not             go.

                    We      do not                  walk.

                 They     do not                  swim.

Maak ontkennend:
I eat pizza

1. I eat not pizza
2. I do not eat pizza
3. I does not eat pizza
4. I am not eat pizza

Korter: 

They don't go to the party.

Terry doesn't swim at all.

Ontkenningen: (to) have got

Uitleg
Het werkwoord have got betekent hebben.

– I have got the keys = Ik heb de sleutels

– She has got a car = Zij heeft een auto

Iemand heeft iets niet: not tussen have en got.

– I have not got the keys = Ik heb de sleutels niet

– She has not got a car = Zij heeft geen auto

Je mag not ook op deze manier afkorten:
– I haven’t got the keys

– She hasn’t got a car

We have got ice cream.
