Today's goals:

• You know what to expect this period: lessons & tests
• You can discuss plastic use with a partner.
• You can read a text and answer questions

Only six lessons, due to holidays & trips

Skills:

Speaking in pairs, discuss a topic (for a mark)

Exam reading, Cito havo (in Testweek 4)

Speaking v4 in period 4

• You work with a partner (you choose yourself)
• You are given a spider web with five keywords linked to a question. 
• You get about 15 seconds to study the spider web, 
• You discuss the topic with your partner for 2 minutes. 
• When the 2 minutes are over, you get another question. 
• You discuss that question for another minute.

Collaborative: work as a team

Like having a discussion with a friend or work colleague: 

• listen to each other's arguments and opinions
• give your partner an equal chance to speak 
• be prepared to agree and disagree in a respectful way.

At the end you should both have spoken about the same amount of time.

When do we start?

After the v4 language trip, on 23 May and 30 May.

Where? 

In the classroom, while others are working on a reading exam.

What can you do to practise?

• Find a partner.
• Look up examples of discussion topics and talk about it.
• We have one lesson to practise in class: 9 May

Discuss in pairs:

1. Which plastic packaging or plastic items did you use this morning?
2. Would it be easy or difficult to avoid using these things?
3. What types of plastic waste are most harmful to environment?
4. What steps have your heard of or perhaps even taken to use less plastic?
