We use can to talk about ability.

Example: I can play video games

We use can to make requests.

Example: Can you give me that can, please?

Could / couldn't

• Betekenis: Zou (niet) kunnen

• Gebruik: 
• - beleefde vraag       Could you please help me.     
• - voorstel                  We could ask him to help us.

      

Bij could en couldn't gebruik je altijd het hele werkwoord

Adverbs

We use adverbs with verbs to say how something happens

Example: He sings badly

How to form adverbs.

By adding -ly.

Example: Slow -> Slowly

Exceptions!

Some adjectives don't change.

fast - high - late - low - early - hard - often - never

The adverb from good is well.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)

• Adverbs zeggen iets over hoe iets gebeurd of hoe iemand iets doet. Deze bijwoorden eindigen bijna altijd op -ly.
• He drives carefully.
• James can read very quickly.

• Een adverb vertelt je meer over een werkwoord, bijvoeglijk naamwoord, of een ander bijwoord.
• He talked nervously.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)

• Je maakt een adverb door het bijvoeglijk naamwoord + ly te doen.
• Quiet = quietly

Let op!

Angry = angrily

Gentle = gently

Good = well
