For & Since
We use 'for' and 'since' to talk about the passing of time but do you know the difference between them?

Look at these sentences. Pay attention to the words in bold and try to work out when we use 'for' and when we use 'since'. 


I studied Spanish for 3 years.
We've lived here since we got married.
I haven't seen Steve since last summer.

We use FOR to mean a period of time, such as 'for a few weeks' or 'for three hours'. We use SINCE to mean from a point in the past to a time later.

Write a story! 
You are going to write a story. First think of a genre. Use at least 100 words for your story or write a poem. It's up to you.  However, you must use the words 'For'and 'Since'at least once AND your story must begin with this sentence:


When I got on the train I found a seat and sat down.
