What	Past simple
When	To say that something happened in the past.
How/Form	Add –ed OR an irregular form.
Signal words	Yesterday, last week, last month, two days ago, four days ago, months ago, a second ago, etc.
Examples	He walked her home last night. I talked to him on the phone yesterday. She tried to close her book but a fly got caught in between the pages.

Past Simple of was/were

I .....(be) at home all weekend.

They ....(be) in India last summer. 

Vragende zin maken met was/were?

Verwissel was/were met de persoonsvorm.

e.g.  Caleb was at Kim's party last night.

Was Caleb at Kim's party last night? 

Ontkennende zin met was/were?

was + not = Wasn't         Were+not = Weren't

Caleb wasn't at Kim's party last night. 

What if there is no was/were?

Als er geen was/were in de zin staat dan moet je did gebruiken bij vragen en ontkenningen. 

*Let op! gebruik na did het hele werkwoord (dus zonder ed)

Did Aiza clean her room yesterday?

Aiza didn't clean her room yesterday.
