How to tackle difficult topics during the English lesson?

Before we start...

You will be needing:

- a pen;

- a piece of paper;

- preferably your laptop / smartphone.

"Who are all these people I'm looking at right now?" (5 min.) (together)

/ Conflicts and upheavals galore these days!

• Name at least 2 difficult topics students (and teachers) are confronted with these days in their personal lives
• Have they penetrated into your classroom lately? (5 min.) (together)

/ How do you tackle discussing these topics / create awareness about the different perspectives to the presented situations in a safe and respectful manner during your English lessons?

• Share your experiences in groups of 4 + write down useful approaches/lesson ideas (10 min.)
• One person per group briefly summarises what has been discussed + adds the answers to the slide presented (10 min.) (group work)
