Did you just hear the past simple? (verleden tijd)

Do you remember: When do you use that?

• example: She saw someone this morning (NU NIET MEER)
  
• (Ze zag iemand die ochtend)
  

• Iets is in het verleden is gebeurd en is nu afgelopen. 
• Signaalwoorden: yesterday, a week ago, last month, in 2004, this morning.

Did you just hear the past continuous? (verleden tijd)

When do you use that?

• example: She was seeing someone this morning (NU NIET MEER)
  
• (Ze heeft iemand gezien die ochtend)
  

• Er was iets aan de gang/ bezig in het verleden.
• Er gebeurde nog iets

Verleden tijd in duurvorm (was / were + werkwoord + ing)

• I was waiting at the bus stop. 
  
• (Ik was op de bus aan het wachten.)

• Je gebruikt de duurvorm (of ing-vorm) vorm in de verleden tijd om aan te geven dat iets op een bepaald moment een tijdje aan de gang was.
• Vaak gebeurde er nog iets.
