If students learned that they could be whatever they wanted to be, what would happen? WRONG ANSWERS ONLY! Use the second conditional.

He said, "It's not something that's appropriate for any place, but especially not in Florida." - change this direct quote to reported speech.

Amit Paley said in a statement, "While I am saddened to see this harmful bill signed into law, I am inspired by the outpouring of support [...] we have seen from parents..." - report it!

1. Title - must be catchy!

2. Body

Engage reader = address them

Use a range of vocab = don't repeat yourself

Refer to stats / data

Use linkers: add, contrast, result

3. Ending - summarise

Goal: you know how to write a factual article.

You've just read an article, you discussed it and you worked with it.

Look at another article on page 82.

Do exercise 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 in pairs.
