Adjective and adverbs

adjective = een bijvoegelijk naamwoord. 

adverb = een bijwoord. 

Een adjective geeft meer informatie over een zelfstandignaamwoord (noun) 

Een adverb zegt iets over het werkwoord (verb) 

Adjectives 

We eat salted popcorns = salted zegt in deze zin iets over de popcorn. Popcorn is zelfstandig naamwoord. 

He loves red cars = red zegt iets over de auto. Auto is een zelfstandig naamwoord. 

Adjective

Een adjective komt ook na woorden als: to be, to look, to appear, to seem. 

I look amazing in my new dress.  

We are serious about our singing career.  

He seems nice in interviews. 

Adverbs

Adverbs zeggen iets over hoe vaak iets gebeurd of over de manier waarop iets gebeurd. Ze zeggen dus iets over het werkwoord. 

She sings beautifully - beautifully zegt iets over het zingen. Zingen is een werkwoord. 

Adverbs

Adverbs worden geplaatst voor het hoofdwerkwoord maar na vormen van to be. 

Je kunt een vaak herkennen aan -ly. 

I never watched a horror film by myself.  

We usually watch the news on the couch. 

Adverbs of frequency

Adverbs of frequency vertellen hoevaak iets gebeurd: always, never, sometimes etc. 

Meestal plaats je ze voor het hoofdwerkwoord: 

We always take the bus to school. 

Zet beautifully op de juiste plek:
The band plays.
