1.2 Grammar D 

Past Simple

Gebruik je al iets in het verleden gebeurd is en nu is afgelopen. 

Past Simple - Regular Verbs

Je gebruikt '-ed' achter een regular verb (=regelmatig ww)

I walk -> I walked

He walks -> He walked

They walk -> They walked

Past Simple - Regular verbs

Spelling:
Als een werkwoord eindigt op een medeklinker + -y, dan verandert de -y in -ie:

• I carry - I carried

Let op, er verandert niets als het werkwoord eindigt op klinker + -y:

• I play - I played

Als een werkwoord eindigt op -e, dan komt er in de past simple alleen een -d achter:

• I live - I lived

In de past simple wordt de laatste medeklinker verdubbeld als er één klinker voor staat:

• I drop - I dropped

Past Simple - Irregular verbs

Sommige werkwoord zijn in het Engels 'irregular' (=onregelmatig),  zij krigen niet  '-ed' op het einde, maar hebben een eigen vorm.

To write -> wrote; I wrote her a letter last week

to go -> went; He went to Italy last year

to make -> made: They made a very nice meal two days ago

Past Simple - Irregular verbs

Er zijn geen regels voor onregelmatige werkwoorden. Deze moet je uit je hoofd leren.

Past Simple - Questions/negations

Vragen-> Did + hele werkwoord

Did you walk to school yesterday?

Ontkenningen -> didn't + hele werkwoord

You didn't walk to school yesterday.

Past Simple - Signal word

In Dutch signal words are called 'signaal woorden'  

Deze woorden helpen je om te zien of iets in het verleden gebeurd is.

• yesterday
• last week
• ten minutes ago
• in 2007

1.2 Grammar D 

Present Perfect (=voltooide tijd)

Wanneer: Als iets in het verleden is begonnen en nu                        nog doorgaat of zo is.

Hoe: 2 woorden: have / has + voltooid deelwoord

            = ww+ed (regelmatige ww)

            = 3e rij  (onregelmatige ww)

VB: We have lived here for 5 years.

       We wonen hier al 5 jaar.

Signaalwoorden: for - since

Uitzonderingen, let op!!

Als iets in het verleden is gebeurd, maar het resultaat is nu heel duidelijk of belangrijk, dan gebruik je toch de PRESENT PERFECT ook al is het al afgelopen.

 VB Why is he in prison?                        He has murdered his sister.

 VB What happened?                              I have broken my leg.

Present Simple

SHIT:  he/she/it = WW+S
Questions:  am/are/is vooraan + ?                            (Are they happy?)
Questions: do vooraan, ? achteraan              (Do they like English?)
Qustions SHIT: does vooraan, ww -s, + ?          (Does she like him?)

Negations: am/are/is + not       (She is not happy, she isn't happy)

Negations: don't voor WW                               (They don't like English)
Negations: doesn't voor WW - s eraf               (She doesn't like him)

Om een vraagzin te maken in present simple, plaats je do voor aan de zin: 

 You like ice cream.     wordt      Do you like ice cream?

Als de persoon 'he/she/it' is, gebruik je does. 

Achter het hele werkwoord komt dan geen 's'!

Negations

Ook hier is 'to be' speciaal. 

Als het werkwoord am, is or are is, kan je gewoon not erachter zetten.

I am an English teacher. 

Wordt 

I am not an English teacher.

I am a happy person.

Om te zeggen dat iets niet zo is, gebruik je not.

Vaak wordt het ook gebruikt als n't, bijvoorbeeld don't or doesn't.

Voorbeeld:

                             She doesn't see very well.

Je maakt een ontkenning door don't or doesn't toe te voegen. 

So not like this:

                                        I like not cookies. 

But like this:

                                       I don't like cookies

Bij he/she/it moet je goed opletten! Kijk naar het voorbeeld hieronder!

                                 He plays video games every day.

De -s achter play vervalt bij een ontkenning.
