Introductie

Part of the British Values series. In this lesson, children will read 'Along Came a Different' and think about similarities and differences.

Instructies

We have designed our British Values lessons so that teachers can pick up and teach a topic to their class with confidence.
We have chosen to use a balance of interactive tools and 'unplugged' creative activities.
Lessons can be taught directly from the LessonUp slides but work best when children have access to the pupil app

If you have any questions or want to know more, please do get in touch. We'd love to show you how LessonUp can make 'Every Class Better Than The Last'

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

This lesson supports British Values. It can be used to compliment your existing schemes of learning or as an ad-hoc session.
It also links with the PSHE Association Programme of Study for KS1:
L1. about what rules are, why they are needed, and why different rules are needed
L4. about the different groups they belong to
L5. about the different roles and responsibilities people have in their community
for different situations
In this lesson, we will:
  • look at the words 'same' and 'different'
  • Think about how we are all 'similar' and 'different'

How are the shapes similar?

Slide 5 - Woordweb

You might need to support children to respond to this question with some vocabulary prompts. Here are some initial responses. Encourage your children to think deeply about this question:

They are all shapes
They are all proud
They all like to have fun
They are all think that their shape is the best thing ever

Your name
A picture of you.
Hair colour
Eye Colour
Favourite food
A talent or skill
Create a Top Trump Card.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

All children can create their own Top Trump card.
Rather than using numbers, choose differences to share.
These might make a lovely display for your classroom. A template is attached to the lesson plan.

Slide 7 - Open vraag

Children can upload a photo of their Top Trump card to this slide so that it can be shared with the group.

I am proud of how we are all the same and different
😒🙁😐🙂😃

Slide 8 - Poll

This poll can give you a quick snapshot of the class and an insight into who may need to explore the issue in more detail. The results will be displayed anonymously but you can look into how each child has answered the poll in the assessment view.

There is a how to guide here.
