Renaissance

More change

• The view of humanity changed because of the Renaissance. 
  
• Trust in one person (themselves) and in people in general grew.
• For the elite, faith became less important. They started to make their own choices.

Humanism

• Particularly talented people such as artists and scientists radiated self-confidence and put themselves (people) in the center.
  
• This is called Humanism! 

Way of thinking, which emerged around 1500, focusing on the mind and free will of the individual human being and the re-study of texts from classical antiquity.

Erasmus is a famous humanist. In humanism, people take a central position. As a human being, you must think consciously, with a lot of care and attention, about how you deal with yourself and your environment.

Erasmus' ideas still influence how we interact with each other in Dutch society.
