Let's face it: let's look at and deal with the problem.

Set foot: to enter or visit a place.

A bone of contention: a subject which causes disagreement and arguments between people.

Fly in the face of: to oppose or be the opposite of something that is usual or expected.

Get under your skin: to annoy somebody

Skin-deep: superficial

Make no bones about it: to be honest and open about something; to not hesitate to do something.
