Set sentence order! 

John watches TV with his sister in the living room at night
I talked to him yesterday
Last weekend he met her at a party

Word order
always, never, sometimes, often, seldom, usually, already, soon, almost, also, probably, nearly, certainly
- when there is one verb, before verb:                             I often walk to school. 
- when there are more verbs, after the first verb:          He has already seen that film. 
- after the verb forms of 'to be':                                        They are almost always late. 
- after the subject in questions:                                        Do they sometimes visit their                                                                                                                grandparents?

Direct vs indirect speech
Direct speech:           Mom says: 'You will be late if you do not hurry.'
Indirect speech:        Mom said I would be late if I did not hurry. 

Two things to focus on:
1. Make sure you use the correct pronouns in the indirect speech. 
2. Change the verbs so that they fit the sentence.

Verbs:

simple present --> simple past                    walk --> walked / buy --> bought
simple past --> past perfect                          walked --> had walked 
present perfect --> past perfect                    have walked --> had walked 
present continuous --> past continuous     am walking --> was walking
future 'will' --> future 'would'    
must --> had to 
can --> could

She said: 'I'm home.' --> She said she was home.
They said: 'We don't agree.' --> They said they didn't agree.
She said: 'You must come home at once.' --> She said I had to come home at once.
He wondered: 'Will she be there?' --> He wondered if she would be there.
She said: 'I was in New York last year.' --> She said she had been in New York last year.
They said: 'We saw Nick's teacher.' --> They said they had seen Nick's teacher.
He says: 'I have been fired.' --> He said he had been fired.
They shout: 'She has done it.' --> They shouted she had done it.
