How to use the past simple (form)
Regular verbs: Add -ed to the verb:
dance – danced, play – played, laugh – laughed
Irregular verbs
These verbs don’t follow the rules. You will have to learn them separately
go - went, have - had, eat - ate

Signal Words
Watch out for words that express a past moment, like:
Yesterday
Last week
Specific dates (May 23, September 2021)
Last summer
