Products
Two types of products:
Free products – you can use them freely
Economic products – cost money

Primairy needs
Everything that you need or would love to have, are called needs

Primary needs - you need this to live/survive
For example: drinks, food, clothing

Secundairy needs
The need for luxury

For example: smartphone, computer, car, holiday

Means are needed to fulfill someone's needs:
  • Time
  • Money
  • Assets

These means are limited, that's what you call scarce. A consumer needs to make choices. You need to prioritize in order to make the right choices

Prosperity
  • The degree to which you can meet your needs is called your prosperity
  • Another part of your prosperity is determined by your sense of happiness
  • You can view the prosperity of a country by calculating the per capita income

Is prosperity the same as wellbeing?
  • Prosperity -> the extent to which you are able to fulfill your needs
  • Wellbeing -> shows how happy and satisfied you are with your life

Calculating the per capita income

income per capita = national income : number of inhabitants 

National income €600 billion
Inhabitants 17 million 

  • Answer -> €600 billion : 17 million = €35,294.12
