A 15-year old boy, Christopher Boone, discovers the forked body of his neighbour’s poodle, in the neighbour’s garden and sets out to uncover the murderer.

Christopher writes his investigation in a book—the book you are reading—as part of a school assignment. Ignoring repeated warnings from his father, Christopher investigates the crime scene and interviews the neighbours. He discovers his father's affair and more about his missing (dead) mother.
