Feudal system
  • Started by the Franks
  •  System of higher nobles giving lesser nobles a piece of land.
  • In return they give a pledge of fealty to their lord.

Knights
  • =fighter on a horse (lower noble).
  • Some knights had their own land but many fought in the armies of higher nobles.

  • =Large piece of land.
  •  Two parts: land of the lord and land of the farmers
  • Manor= Domain
  • Together this is called the Manorial system.
