Past Simple

You use the past simple when something happened in the past and is finished.
You add -ed or use 2^nd column of irregular verbs

Present Perfect

1.Je ziet het gevolg van de actie:

2 .De tijd van de actie is niet bekend / niet belangrijk
President Trump  HAS SENT several silly tweets.

Actie 1 (gebeurt als eerste): Past perfect (had +vd/3e rij)

Actie 2: (gebeurt al tweede): Past simple (ww+ed of 2e rij)

After I had done my homework, I went for a run.

Direct and Indirect speech

Direct speech gebruik je om letterlijk weet te geven wat iemand zegt of heeft gezegd.

Sheila said: "I love mysteries."

Robin asked: "Do you like stories?"

Indirect speech gebruik je om te beschrijven wat iemand heeft gezegd.

Sheila said that she loved mysteries.

Robin asked if I liked stories.

Direct and Indirect speech

Let op de volgende dingen als je indirect speech gebruikt:

• Gebruik de juiste verleden tijd:

D.S: "I spend a lot of time there."                                Present Simple = Past Simple

ID.S: Terry said that he spent a lot of time there.

                                                                               Present Continuous = Past Continuous

D.S: "We are working on it."                                    

ID.S: We explained that we were working on it.

Direct and Indirect speech

                                                                                      Past Simple = Past Perfect

D.S: "I saw you on the beach yesterday."

ID.S: Steph said that she had seen us on the beach the day before.

 

                                                                                       Present Perfect = Past Perfect

D.S: "Have you ever seen anything strange?"

ID.S: "The boys asked if we had ever seen anything strange.

Direct and Indirect speech

• Begin met een inleiding:

D.S: "Emily looked scared."

ID.S: Amy said that Emily looked scared.

• Verander zo nodig ook andere verwijzingen:

D.S: "I was at at party last night."

ID.S: He told me that he had been at a party the night before.

Some vs. Any

Some Somewhere, something, someone/body	>Bij bevestigend zinnen >Bij vragen met 'ja' als antwoord >Als je iets aanbiedt	I have some money. Can we go somewhere ? Would you like something to drink?
Any Anywhere Anything Anyone/body	>bij ontkennende zinnen >bij alle andere vragen >bij woorden: never, without, hardly	I don't have any money. Is anyone home? We never go anywhere .
