In which areas do the people live close together?

Population distribution

The way in which the population is divided over an area is called population distribution (bevolkingsspreiding)

Why do people mostly live in the orange/ red areas?

Population density

The number of inhabitants divided by the area of a country population density (bevolkingsdichtheid)

Population density

• High population density = a lot of people per km2
  
• Low population density = less people per km2

Number of inhabitants / km2 of a country = population density
