Lesson goals

At the end of this lesson:

• You have learned (more) about different social media platforms
• You have practiced speaking using vocabulary related to social media
  
• You have practiced making and giving a short presentation in a short amount of time

(watch your language please...)

What do the students know about social media? Let them write down english words that have to do with the topic

Mini group class project

Getting to know different social media

6 groups - each group will research one social media platform

• Take 15 minutes to prepare a short presentation for the class (2-3 minutes) about the platform (the teacher will tell you which one).

• Talk about the origins, how the platform is used and the pros and cons.
• Decide who is going to talk about what
  
• Each group will present in front of the class (in random order).
  

• Each group member must speak during the presentation.

You can create your own groups or let the students make groups, depending on the dynamics of the class. Students can use their computers to do research online. They are allowed to use a powerpoint presentation, but don't have to.

Time to hear the group presentations!

During the presentions:

• Think of (or write down) any questions you may have.

• Be ready to give feedback to your classmates on how to improve their speaking skills. Remember that feedback must be constructive, specific and kind.
