used to
Used to + infinitive ; I used to go to school by bike.
  • An habitual action in the past that no longer happens  ( with an action verb)

Used to + infinitive ; We used to wear our hair in a ponytail when we were girls.
  • A permanent habitual action in the past that no longer happens. (with a static verb)

Mind: You come across didn’t used to  did he used to, especially in formal English.  However, it is becoming more and more common to use didn't use to and did he use to in English. Moreover, many people now feel didn't used to is wrong, een though both forms are grammatically correct.
tag questions: He used to be your boss, did he?

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

would
Would + infinitive without to:
I would  play basketball  every Wednesday afternoon.
Used for repeated habitual actions in the past ( with an action verb)

You can used to when we use would but we can't always use would for used to. This depends on the verb; you can only use would for used to when it is an action verb. With static verbs you have to use used to.
I used to have long hair.                          NOT/WRONG : I would have long hair
I used to go to school  at 8                   YES: I would go to school  at 8

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

get/be used to
Get used to + -ing: process
I am slowly getting used to living on my own.
Be used to + -ing  : end of process:
I am used to living on my own.

It means the same as get/be accustomed to and can be used in all tenses.
