Writing a Book Review

In this lesson...

• We'll continue reading our HM
• We'll learn how to write an effective book review, to prepare for the next literature assignment.

What is a book review?

What do you include in a book review?

Look at the poster

• Read the descriptions of how to write a good review.
• Cut out the descriptions on the left and paste next to an appropriate heading (titel) in the table.
• Which descriptions fit best with which headings?

explain that they can cut out the subsections also. All the headings don't have explanation.

Let's check:

Think of a book you've read

• Did you like it or not?
• Copy the table on a piece of paper. 
• Write information in the review table, about this book.
• Have you written enough details, according to the suggestions?

Now write out the review fully.

• Write about 5 paragraphs. 
• Use proper sentences.
• Use the table to help you write out your review.
• Use the order of the table.
• Also see SS p. 96,  reading ex 17, for tips to structure your writing.

• Check: Did you include all the components from the table?
