the future tense?

Use will/won't or going to

Use will/won't with IF sentences

The economy will/ is going to improve this year.

#2 - Intentions

Use going to

Intention = when you want to do something but you haven't done it yet.

This year I'm going to lose weight/join a gym/save up a lot of money.

#3 - PLANS/ARRANGEMENTS

Use going to or present continuous

When you have already taken some action to make the plan a reality in the future

PC: We're visiting him next week.

GT: We're going to visit him next week

#4 - Decisions in moment, promises, offers

USE WILL
Bijvoorbeeld bij bestellen in een restaurant. (in moment decision)

I'll have the risotto!

I'll call you tonight!        (promise)

I'll help you with your homework!       (offer)

#5 - SCHEDULED EVENTS

Use PRESENT SIMPLE

Transportation schedules (trein- of bustijden)

Things that operate on a regular schedule (winkel of bank)
