2. Which sensory receptors are found in your skin?
Slide 9 - Tekstslide
Layers of the skin
Epidermis - Top layer, protection
Dermis - Second layer, it produces sweat, grows hair, makes oil and brings blood to your skin.
Subcutaneous fat - padding and controls body temperature
Slide 10 - Tekstslide
People can get burns from, for instance, hot water, fire or the sun. Burns are categorised in terms of how deep and severe they are. In a second-degree burn, the two upper layers of the skin are affected.

Slide 11 - Quizvraag
Sensory receptors
touch – a light stroke or tap;
pressure – a ‘heavy touch’;
temperature – hot or cold;
pain – when something is damaging your tissue.
Slide 12 - Tekstslide
Many patients with severe burns cannot feel pain. Explain why this is so.

Learning goals 5.8
1. What are the parts of the nervous system and what do they do?
2. How do the parts of the nervous system work together?
Slide 14 - Tekstslide
Why do we need a nervous system?
Slide 15 - Open vraag
Nervous system
2 parts
central nervous system - brain and the spinal cord.
Peripheral nervous system - Part of the nervous system that is located in all areas of your body except the brain and the spinal cord.
Slide 16 - Tekstslide
The spinal cord
Connects the brain with the peripheral nervous system
Slide 17 - Tekstslide
The brain
Different areas control different functions
Cerebrum - The largest part of the brain where thinking takes place and where your memories are stored.
Brain stem - controls automatic functions e.g. breathing
Cerebellum - Coordinates movement
Slide 18 - Tekstslide
