Present simple

Tegenwoordige tijd.
Gebruik: bij feiten, gewoonten en regelmatige gebeurtenissen.

Vorm:
1 hele werkwoord gebruiken bij I, you, we, you they
2 ww + s bij he, she, it

Present simple: examples

Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

Sam is 15 years old.
I often watch TV in the evening.

 

Future 

Gebruik: om te praten over afspraken in de toekomst waarvan de tijd/plaats al vaststaat.

Vorm:

am/are/is (vorm van to be) + going to + hele werkwoord

Future: examples

He is leaving for New Zealand tomorrow.

I'm meeting Susan at the train station.

Look at those dark clouds. It is going to rain. 
I am not going to hike tomorrow. I am too tired to hike.

Present continuous

Tegenwoordige tijd - duurvorm

Gebruik: iets is nu, op dit moment aan de gang.

Vorm:

am/are/is (vorm van to be) + (werkwoord + ing)

Present continuous: examples

I'm watching a film at the moment.
Look! It's raining in Sydney.

He is taking a shower right now.

The train ____ at 11:45.
