How to write a letter?

The basics to writing

1. Capital letters

- When you start a sentence.

- When you use a name.

- When you say I (ik) in English.

- Don't use slang of abbreviations (afkortingen) VB: - I wanna = I want to

Greeting 

In informal letters you can use various greetings:

Caution! They need to be in English

For Example: 

Hello aunt Carol, 

Hi Jim,

Dear Kate,

After the greeting

You ask how the other person is doing and say how you are doing. 

How are you? I am doing fine.

How have you been?

I hope you are doing well! 

Ending the letter

Pre-ending:

• I hope to hear from you soon.
• Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Ending:

• Bye,
  Your name
• Hugs and kisses,
  Your name
• Love,
  Your name
  
• With kind regards,
  Your name

Writing assignment

Write an informal letter to a friend you haven’t seen in a long time. Tell them about your life and ask about theirs.

Instructions:

Write at least 100 words

Write in English

• Begin with a friendly greeting
• Share at least two things that have happened in your life.
• Ask your friend at least two questions about his/her life.
• Ask when you can meet up
• End with a warm closing.
